Congratulations on the new addition to your family!
Getting a new kitten is an exciting time, but can also bring up many questions and concerns (especially for first time owners). At Westchester Veterinary Center, we are here to provide your new companion with everything he or she needs to grow up healthy and strong.
Your kitten’s immune system is still developing, leaving them more vulnerable to illness, so it’s important to bring them in for their first wellness exam as soon as possible. During your initial visit, we will perform a comprehensive preliminary examination to look for any potential health issues, and create a preventive treatment schedule that is best for your kitten during their first few months of life.
During the exam, we will also examine your pet for intestinal parasites and perform deworming if necessary. At this time we are also happy to address any questions you have concerning care for your pet such as diet and nutrition, behavioral issues, litter training, or vaccinations. We will also discuss the importance of microchipping your new pet to keep them safe in the event that they are lost. Click here to learn about more about microchipping.
Preparing for Your First Kitten Visit
For your kitten’s first exam, we ask that you bring a fresh stool sample and the health information provided to you by the seller or shelter on your first visit with us, which includes a previous history of vaccines and deworming. Please arrive with your kitten in a secured carrier for their safety and the safety of the other clients and patients.
